As part of the "Development Methodologies" Professorship held by Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo, a summer school will be organised from 5 to 8 July 2022 in Abidjan, in partnership with the French Development Agency, the Fund for Innovation in Development, the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab and the Abidjan Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics.

PARTICIPANTS
The Summer School will bring together researchers and policymakers around a blended teaching programme designed to build up local capacities in the generation and use of rigorous evidence in the design of public programmes and policies.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR THIS TRAINING AND HOW TO APPLY?
Researchers wishing to participate in the summer school must apply before 30 April 2022 by completing the application form. As places are limited and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
To be eligible for this course, applicants must:

  • Be a national of an African country;
  • Hold a doctorate in economics or social sciences from an accredited institution;
  • Be affiliated with a university or research institute, or with the "research" or "evaluation" department of a public or private organisation;
  • Be involved in research activities taking place in Africa, preferably in relation with the evaluation of programmes and public policies.

OBJECTIVES
The academic track of the summer school will aim to reinforce the knowledge and good research practices of participants who
are already well versed in the methodological foundations of impact evaluations. This track will be supplemented by joint sessions in order to facilitate exchanges with the researchers and policymakers around practical case studies.
