The Africa Evidence Network hosted the 8th Africa Evidence webinar entitled: "Evolving evidence, fake news, and emerging contexts: researchers at the nexus of EIDM for COVID-19".  Co-hosting this webinar with Health Systems Global, we welcomed speakers from different countries in Africa to reflect on the challenges and opportunities that informing the African response to COVID-19 has presented. We had a discussion between these leaders in evidence-informed decision-making in African healthcare:  - Dr. Rhona Mijumbi (Director of the Center for Rapid Evidence Synthesis (ACRES); member of COVID-19 taskforce for the Uganda Medical Association, Uganda),  - Dr. Benjamin S.C. Uzochukwu (Public health physician, Professor: Public Health, Health Policy, and Systems, University of Nigeria; Member: Ministerial Expert Advisory Committee on COVID-19 Health Sector Response in Nigeria), and - Prof. Mamadou Samba (Director General of Health: Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene; Associate Lecturer: Public Health and Health Economics - Houphouet–Boigny University Abidjan;  General Coordinator Covid-19 pandemic response – Ivory Coast). Drs Nasreen Jessani and Daniela C. Rodriguez facilitated this stimulating conversation on 29 July from 14:00-15:00 (SAST) on our virtual platform. Participants had the opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives on the complexities of EIDM during COVID-19.
