The Africa Evidence Network hosted its first session of the Evidence 2023 capacities webinar series on 26 April 2023 entitled: "Capacity development for EIDM in Africa: exploring innovative approaches."

We had the pleasure of hosting our seasoned speakers who shared the innovative approaches they use to develop capacity in the EIDM sector in their organisations.

• Prof. Avea E. Nsoh (TEERE, Ghana)
• Penka Bogne (Effective Basic Services, eBASE Africa, Cameroon)
• Leyla Abdullahi (African Institute for Development Policy, AFIDEP, Kenya and Malawi)

The speakers shared on:

• innovations on capacity development, and principles/assumptions that underpin them,
• principles/assumptions in these pedagogical approaches about how adults learn,
• the triggers for introducing these novel capacity development approaches,
• important principles to inform the EIDM pedagogies,
• challenges faced in implementing their preferred EIDM pedagogy(ies),
• innovations informed by the AEN Manifesto on capacity development for EIDM in Africa.

The session was moderated by Emily Hayter from On Think Tanks Consulting and it was chaired by Kirchuffs Atengble, the co-chair of  Evidence 2023.
