In response to the challenges of evidence use in policy making process, the Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR), designed the Utafiti Sera, a unique and innovative approach to bridging the gap between research evidence in policymaking, and to anchor EIDM work in Africa. Utafiti Sera uses the concept of a ‘house’ as the platform where both research and policy communities come together to discuss, access, and appraise evidence with the aim of addressing specific policy issue of national concern. PASGR through Utafiti Sera houses has transformed how policy actors engage in policymaking. The houses have developed joint learning platforms between themselves over the years which have generated evidence that has informed policy and practice. Utafiti Sera has created a practice of continuous reflections, innovations and use of evidence in the review and engagement with public policy ecosystem.
