Twende Mbele is a peer-learning partnership between the governments of Benin, Niger, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya and South Africa, with the recent joining of Malawi. This peer-learning network collectively aims to jointly support and share best practices regarding the use of government-led Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems. Through peer-learning amongst African governments, this offers a unique position of effectively advocating for government-led demand for evaluations, induce evidence-based governance in planning, decision-making, policymaking, budgeting and implementation to strengthen the performance of government, development plans, policies, programmes and legislation. Twende Mbele has supported senior M&E government officials in strengthening their capabilities to develop and review their national evaluation policy framework and guidelines, conducting rapid evaluations and now exploring evidence-synthesis and digital tools that can help generate evidence for policy decision-making.
