Global Masterclass in Qualitative Evidence Synthesis

The Centre for Evidence-based Health Care, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University; the Faculty of Social Sciences, KU Leuven; Cochrane South Africa; and the School of Public Health, University of the Western Cape invite you to their joined Global Masterclass in Qualitative Evidence Synthesis. This 3 day online short course provides academic staff, students, researchers, reviewers, and editors with the understanding of the principles to conduct and interpret qualitative systematic reviews.

 

We will be co-hosting this hybrid course open to master students and external parties with delegates from across the globe and invite you into this shared learning experience.

After completion of this QES course, participants will be able to:

  • Have a broad understanding of qualitative research designs.
  • Understand what QES’ are and why we conduct them.
  • Understand and differentiate the various types of QES methodologies and their epistemologies.  
  • Apply the fundamental background and skills required to design and register a protocol for a QES.
  • Develop a well formulated research question appropriate for QES.
  • Develop search methods for identifying relevant studies for inclusion.
  • Identify and apply the appropriate sampling strategy in a QES.
  • Select and apply the appropriate methodological quality assessment tools to qualitative evidence.
  • Identify and apply the appropriate epistemological lens that to frame the QES.
  • Understand and apply basic skills in the data extraction and synthesis for QES.
  • Understand and apply GRADE-CERQUAL in QES.
  • Understand the principles of conducting, writing, and interpreting QES.

 

Participants will receive a University short course certificate of attendance on completion of the short course.

*South African delegates registered with the HPCSA are eligible for 18 General CEUs.
