Africa Evidence Week 2021 event: Engagement and advocacy: stories propelling evidence to action

*All times listed here are in GMT

The implementation of evidence-informed practices are influenced by many stakeholders such as policymakers, healthcare managers and professionals, healthcare funders, media, community, family, and the patient him- or herself. As the pathways of evidence to policy to practice are not linear and are affected by many factors (e.g. culture, socio-economic status, etc.), role-players and agendas, there is a need to work at various levels to influence and engage with all stakeholders.

This panel session will share stories – the good, bad and ugly -  of using advocacy strategies for enhancing the chances of using evidence to spur change. The stories include controversial topics but we won’t give away too much just yet!

Register for the event and join us on 14 September to hear more!

Moderator:

Nasreen Jessani

  • Taryn Young, director of the Centre for Evidence-based Health Care and Head of the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Stellenbosch University
