The Africa Evidence Network launched the evidence capacities community of practice (CoP) on 22 November 2023.
We had the pleasure of hearing from speakers who shared their remarks from their different perspectives.
We had opening remarks from Siziwe Ngcwabe; the Africa Evidence Network (AEN) co-chair and Director who gave us the purpose of the gathering by providing the context and background of the community of practice.
Then, we also got some remarks from Andrea Elanga; a representative of the initial CoP members who shared a brief history and some insights into how the team worked to arrive at the current version of the guidelines.
Christopher Chibwana of the Hewlett Foundation (key funder) shared his remarks by first introducing the rationale for support from the Hewlett Foundation, then went on to share how they consider this new CoP as relevant to the potential growth of evidence-informed decision-making practice across Africa.
We had an address and launch by Dr Zackaria Ibn Abraham; Research Officer, Parliament of Ghana on behalf of Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin; Speaker, Parliament of Ghana. He gave an insightful talk and declared the CoP officially launched.
We also had some remarks from the participants. Several attendees shared their thoughts and expectations of this CoP.
Lastly, we received some closing remarks from Siziwe Ngcwabe; the AEN co-chair and Director.
