This scoping report was produced as part of a project carried out at the Africa Centre for Evidence and funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation to explore the nature and extent of impact evaluation capacity in Sub-Saharan Africa. Amongst other goals, the study aimed to understand the extent and nature of existing impact evaluation capacity in Sub-Saharan Africa, especially East and West Africa, for both the production and use of impact evaluations. This would include individual, organisational, and structural needs, barriers and facilitators. One of the key findings is that there is evidence of more widespread capacity to conduct impact evaluations than initially anticipated as well as a greater number of impact evaluations that have been published than what was initially thought.
