…a new individual! Benjamin Masebo is a Programme Director at Uwezo Tanzania.
“Evidence is power.” This has always been Benjamin’s guiding principle in engagements with various stakeholders and policymakers. As an individual, it is challenging to possess all the necessary information or single-handedly influence broader societal changes. This realisation led him to join the Africa Evidence Network (AEN). On this dynamic platform, researchers, civil society organisations (CSOs), policymakers, and global communities share experiences and insights on research and innovations that drive positive change.
Through this network, Benjamin aims to share knowledge and learn from others. His involvement in the AEN will enhance his expertise and inform best practices that can be applied to his country and community. By collaborating with professionals and organisations dedicated to evidence-based decision-making, Benjamin believes the EIDM community can collectively improve policies and interventions impacting millions of lives. He feels privileged and excited to be part of this influential network.
For many years, Benjamin has worked in the education sector, conducting assessments of children’s learning outcomes and evaluating the implementation of education policies. However, having extensive data alone is insufficient unless it is effectively shared and utilised. The AEN provides an invaluable space for him to connect with professionals and CSOs who rely on research findings to design interventions that address educational challenges.
Being part of the AEN allows Benjamin to amplify the impact of his work by ensuring that research evidence reaches the right stakeholders. He looks forward to engaging with fellow members, exchanging ideas, and contributing to a culture of evidence-informed policymaking across Africa and beyond.
