…a new individual! Fatima Muftau joined the Africa Evidence Network (AEN) because she believes that evidence holds its true power when it reaches people, shaping programmes, influencing decisions, and transforming communities. As a young professional working at the intersection of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and gender equality, Fatima is passionate about how data and storytelling can drive meaningful change.
Through her work with the Bridge Connect Africa Initiative, she contributes to projects advancing sexual and reproductive health, gender inclusion, and youth empowerment. Fatima also curates insightful newsletter content and learning stories that amplify African voices in the evidence ecosystem, spotlighting local innovations, lessons learned, and impact from the field.
What excites her most about the AEN is its community of thinkers and doers; researchers, policymakers, and practitioners who are reimagining how evidence is produced, shared, and used across Africa. For Fatima, it’s more than a network; it’s a learning space where evidence meets real-world application.
Fatima’s current focus is on strengthening evidence communication, ensuring that findings from MEL and data projects are accessible, engaging, and actionable. She hopes to contribute to the Network’s ongoing conversations around youth leadership, gender-responsive evaluation, and locally driven evidence.
Looking ahead, Fatima envisions an Africa where young professionals and women in tech and data play a central role in ensuring that evidence doesn’t stay on paper, but translates into better decisions and better lives.
