Hello, Bonjour, Ola!
As the world changes, our evidence must keep pace by helping decision-makers understand new realities, respond to emerging challenges and shape what comes next. As we explore how evidence, knowledge and partnerships can help us navigate some of the continent’s most emerging challenges, we acknowledge that responsive African evidence can help us navigate these complexities to shape better futures. Responsive African evidence listens to context, reflects lived realities and connects to decisions that matter.
This month, we explore what responsive evidence looks like in practice. We spotlight Dr. Edmund Terem Ugar, a researcher and policy analyst exploring AI ethics and governance and how they intersect with and shape African values, and discover how The African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) connects conflict evidence and knowledge with practical action. We celebrate the ideas, energy and leadership of the Africa Evidence Youth League, while also looking beyond Africa to a UK government-university partnership demonstrating how strong relationships with researchers and policymakers can support evidence use. In our blog, Gilchriste Ndongwe calls for informed migration policy that responds to the realities on the continent, and a space for honest and informed dialogue.
We are also excited to announce that the Responsive Evidence System for African Policy needs (REAP) is now an app which further expands on the online capacity-building platform designed to support evidence units across Africa.
Reminder: Your voice matters! The AEN survey is still live and accepting responses. Help shape the future of AEN to better support your evidence journey!
