Hello, Bonjour, Olá!
Africa Evidence Week 2026 is back, and from the 30th November-4th December 2026 we will bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners and evidence champions from across the continent to celebrate, connect and strengthen the use of evidence in decision-making. Through conversations, shared learning and stories of change, we will spotlight African-led knowledge, amplify the voices shaping evidence-informed policy and explore how we can move from evidence to meaningful impact. Together, we are building a more connected, inclusive and responsive African evidence ecosystem and we can’t wait to explore the evidence that moves Africa!
Evidence-informed decision-making takes many forms. Governments draw on evaluations to improve public programmes, researchers develop tools to make information more accessible, and communities contribute knowledge about the issues affecting their lives. Each brings a different perspective on how evidence is produced, shared, and used.
This month, we celebrate ten years of Twende Mbele, exploring how African governments are learning from one another to strengthen monitoring and evaluation. We also discover Wakamoso, a South African platform using WhatsApp to collect community data and share findings with the people who contribute them. In our Changemaker Spotlight, we meet Maria Rhomari from J-PAL Middle East and North Africa, whose work helps connect research with policymaking in Morocco.
Our Africa Evidence Radar takes us to Eswatini, where the Manzini Declaration calls for stronger climate early warning systems. Beyond Africa, we examine guidance from the UK Department for Education on making evidence-informed decisions in a rapidly changing technological environment.
We also join the Africa Evidence Youth League as young African evidence leaders contribute to World Evidence-Based Healthcare Day conversations on AI and healthcare. Alongside these stories, we share research, funding opportunities, fellowships and upcoming events from across the evidence community.
Happy reading!
