…a new individual! Mulenga Ching’ambo is a Programmes Manager at Centre for Reproductive Health and Education (CRHE) based in Zambia. She is a passionate advocate for health and human rights, with over a decade of experience advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) across Zambia. Specialising in policy development, budget advocacy, and rights-based governance, she works at the intersection of evidence and action collaborating with governments, civil society, and international partners to build inclusive health systems that leave no one behind. A firm believer that research must serve people, Mulenga champions evidence-based advocacy to hold governments accountable to their health commitments. Her work involves translating complex data into compelling narratives for policymakers, facilitating citizen engagement to ground research in lived realities, and using strategic monitoring to track progress and drive systemic change. Whether shaping national SRHR policies, crafting donor proposals, or mentoring young leaders, she brings emotional intelligence, cultural pride, and systems thinking to every space she enters. Driven by a commitment to community-led solutions and dignified communication, she is dedicated to ensuring that youth, women, and marginalised groups are not only heard, but centered in decision-making processes with evidence as their compass.
Motivation for joining the AEN
I was motivated to join the Africa Evidence Network because I strongly believe that the best solutions for Africa come from within Africa. I wanted to connect with like-minded professionals who are actively working to shift the narrative from being consumers of research to being producers and drivers of it. The AEN provides a crucial platform for collaboration, and I wanted to be part of a community that is committed to strengthening the entire evidence ecosystem, from generation to utilisation, across the continent.
Hopes and Contributions to the AEN
Through the AEN, I hope to gain new insights and perspectives from colleagues working in different sectors and countries, helping me to think more broadly about how evidence can be translated into action. I aim to contribute by sharing my own experiences and lessons learned, particularly in the area of advocacy and stakeholder engagement. Ultimately, I hope to foster partnerships that lead to more impactful, evidence-informed policies that improve the lives of communities across Africa.
