Theme: Unlocking Data Across Africa: Shared Challenges, Shared Solutions
The Unlocking Data Initiative (UDI) officially launches a Pan-African Community of Learning (CoL) aimed at strengthening education data use to improve foundational learning outcomes across the continent.
Implemented in Kenya, Malawi, and Cameroon, UDI brings together a consortium of partners—eBase Africa, EdTech Hub, Education Sub‑Saharan Africa (ESSA), the University of Malawi’s Centre for Educational Research and Training (CERT), and Mzizi Elimu Afrika Foundation—to expand the uses and users of education data.
Despite the growing availability of education data in Africa, data systems often remain fragmented, inaccessible, or underutilised. The Community of Learning responds to this challenge by creating platforms that connect policymakers, researchers, civil society organisations, teachers, and data practitioners to collaborate, share knowledge, and cocreate solutions for stronger national education data ecosystems.
